When it rain, it rain!

It rained so hard last night, making your way anywhere so damnly hard. As expected not all squad members were able to get to the practice area. Maybe they're just too lazy to get their butt on the move. This time we returned back to the old and "freaky government motorpool" I now call "garage". We just ignored the complain of the neighbors that we are so noisy and we should stop what we are doing.. naah, we leave that problem to them, we're not going anywhere.

New dance moves were introduced last night, and because there are only few people around, we didnt had the chance to practice the stunts. But we tried to perform some full extension liberty, we're not able to get it perfect but we managed to get the rythm right in 3 trials out of many. A good indication that we can really do it!

We implemented a new punishment to late comers starting last night. He/she should dance and perform solo in front of the squad until the squad is satisfied with the punishment. Sound like cruel.. but it sure make you wanna come early on practice next time. One squad member got a sample of what it feels to be dancing solo in front of a crowd when she arrived very late in practice last night.

Horrible Weekend

Saturday and Sunday had passed and it is now Monday! Twelve days to go! The weekend was horrible, we're not able to practice the whole saturday afternoon because only few people showed up, the night practice yields tiny improvement, and we cancelled the practice on sunday.

The team is looking forward for tonight's practice, we need to catch up! Our routine is only 10% complete (I think), the squad still lacks 2 ladies and 1 gent, the dance moves are not yet complete, the dancer's performance sucks!, the squad needs 6 more stunts, ... the uniforms are still in question.. Phew! So horrible...

Nailed!

Friday night's practice is a history. Last year we tried hard to perform the difficult Hand Stand Pyramid that we revised into Double Hand Stand Pyramid we called "Modified Batangas" but we're not able to even scratch the surface of the stunt. Tonight we nailed it! There's still problem with the dismount but it will be perfected soon.

The squad learned some new techno dance moves and also practiced the yells. The dance routine is somewhat beginning to take a shape. More practice needed to perfect all the moves.

Got attitude?

Thursday night's practice scenario will be best compared to a TV drama special. Hmm.. the word came out late that we will transfer our practice site from the "freaky garage" to the CSM lobby and atrium (because were so noisy.. grr..). Out of many members, only 3 were unluckily uninformed and they were waiting to practice in the wrong place. To make the story short these 3 unlucky creatures were finally informed and they were furious when they arrived to CSM lobby, to the point that they were becoming "rude".. much to our surprise. They shouldnt acted like that.

The faculty coordinators gave some unpleasant lectures after the practice about "attitude" within the squad and it seems like everyone trembled.. so I thought.

Stick it!

Last night's practice was quite a bit succesfull. The squad members assembled in the practice facility very early and we're able to start practicing early. Something that we could not do for the past several days or week. Maybe because the coordinators now are strict with the log in time. Punctuality is the number one problem of the squad. It was approved that members coming late will be fined P10.00, and every after 30 minutes additional time late would cost another P10.00. Again there are some coming late and they are all f-i-n-e-d, at the moment we got a total fine collectible of P90.00. Hmm.. enough to buy food morsels for the snack. Hehehe.

We tried the "Modified Batangas" pyramid that we failed to complete last time, and surprisingly we hit it this time! We obviously missed to consider momentum and equilibrium last time. Thanks to the hardwork and patience of everyone in the stunt group. Once again we proved to ourselves that thru team effort, and some neurons, we could accomplish anything.

The dance group looked awesome last night. They shaked those booty like there's no tomorrow. They're now practicing in tune with the music. The stunt group still lag behind, we nailed down just 2 pyramids (the 2 most difficult) out of planned 3, and 0 (zero) out of planned 4 stunts. We had practiced all the basics so advancing into intermediate and advanced stunts would hopefully be easy. Phew! 16 days to go before the big day, the excitement is starting to build up!

We got a little problem in our practice area (the freaky and old government vehicle motorpool). The nearest house has a new born baby which is barely a week old and they asked us not to make noise at night. Hmm.. this is tough.. obviously we could not pratice without making noise. We need to clap, jump, shout, count, stomp, and most of all loud music to get pumped up. Anyway we're hoping they'll get used to it (the noise), we're not planning to transfer to another place.

Practice again tonight from 6:00 to 10:00. Hopefully the squad stick to the same focus it did last night. The concern tonight will be the uniforms. We don't want to repeat the disaster we had last year so this time we need to start flexing those tape measure and crank up the tailor to start hitting the sewing machine. Three additional ladies (1 returning, 2 new) joined us and we have now 17 ladies and 17 gents in the squad. We need to hit 38 so still we need applicants.

Scorpio Night

Today we only practiced until 9 PM to give the parents of our squad members a breather. We don't want the beloved parents of our members to get mad and force their sons/daughters quit the squad for coming home very late at night.

The ladies in dance group do their dance moves with the music for the first time. The stunt group tried somewhat a difficult pyramid stunt. We call the stunt the "Modified Batangas". Attempts after attempts we came out empty handed. But we're still eager to complete and master the stunt. We're looking forward for tomorrow's practice.

So far the squad had completed memorizing the yells and chants and learned all the actions that corresponds to them. The dance group had practiced quite a number of moves. Practicing with the music is the next thing the dance group will do. The stunt group completed only one pyramid stunt yet, we call the stunt the "Scorpion" pyramid. The stunt is quite difficult but we had the experience of doing it last year, so even though the squad has a score of new members, we are able to complete the stunt in 2 practice sessions. The squad planned to showcase 7 stunts in the routine and we had yet to crack down 6 other stunt more.

Slow Progress

Practice has been started on July 25, 2005 and progress has been so slow. The team needs 19 ladies and 19 gents. So far we only had 14 ladies and 17 gents.. not good. Still looking for applicants.

Thanks for some dedicated faculty coordinators, the mixing of music is finally finished just this week! The overall choreography is starting to take its shape.

Yesterday we had our first overtime practice at some freaky and old government vehicle motorpool. The place is secured from any outside intruders that could ruin our practice; The lighting was nevertheless good; The area is adequately large to accommodate our needs; BUT, there was no chairs or benches available that we could use to rest, and the floor is dusty and some part greasy. Nevertheless the place is quite adequate. Some adjustments will be made to make our pratice area safe for practice.

Our practice ended at 11 PM. We got a problem with our transportation and some of our members managed to get home at 3:30 AM. It is just our first overtime practice and we messed around badly. We'll make sure this horrible thing will never happen again.

CSM Lynx is on the prowl.. hear us roar!

We're the CSM Lynx Spirit Squad! This blog mirrors what's goin on with your CSM Lynx Spirit Squad.

This year we're set and determined to bounce our way back to the top again on this year's Palakasan Cheerdance Competition. There are only 18 days to go before the contest and our team is definitetly not yet ready. But with the undying support of all the faculty; the Student Executive Committee (EC); and all the students of the college; and with the faculty coordinators working hard together with each and every dedicated member of the team; our morale is skyhigh that even a mighty storm could not stop us.

GO CSM!
